In some systems, Kanku-dai (Kosokun, Kusanku) is the king of kata, the highest, longest, or most difficult required form. In the Takeshin system, it comes after the Heians because it summarizes them, i.e. the Heian kata serves as introductions to the movements present in Kanku. Indeed, one theory is that the Heians came from breaking down the Kanku and Bassaai kata.
